Are you guys bored by reading  those romantic and over bearing novels , here I introduce something different !!!

The Heroes Of Olympus is a  series of five books written by Rick Riordan which is a sequel to Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The first book of the series , The Lost Hero , was published on October 12, 2010 . The last book of the series , The Blood of Olympus , was published on October 7, 2014.

This book contains adventure, action , little bit of comedy (all thanks to Leo) , sacrifices ,heroic fantasy ,and the best part is that it is related to ancient Greek and Roman history and a bit of romance ( because you all are just teens).

About the Author

Richard Russell "Rick" Riordan ( born on June 5, 1964)  is an American author who is known for his work in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Heroes of Olympus series . Twentieth Century Fox has adapted the first two books of his Percy Jackson series as part of a series of films. He is currently writing the Trials of Apollo which consists of five books(I'm eagerly waiting for that series to come out!)

Plot

The Heroes of Olympus series is centered around the prophecy of seven  which was introduced in The Last Olympian ( last book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series ) which predicts that the seven demigods would unite to stop Gaea ( or Gaia ) from destroying the human race (even the gods).

The Lost Hero

Characters

Jason Grace (aka Sparky)

  A 15 year-old son of Jupiter (Greek form - Zeus) god of the sky and lightning , who has lost his memory. He is also the brother of Thalia Grace , daughter of Zeus, but she joined the hunters of Artemis  . He is the praetor (leader) of Camp Jupiter .He has a golden coin stamped with Julius Caesar's face on one side and a battle axe on the other that turns into a lance, or a double-edged sword made of Imperial Gold depending on the flip.

Piper McLean( aka Beauty Queen )

She is the daughter of Aphrodite (Roman form-Venus) goddess of love and beauty (OMG she is so beautiful!!!) . She can charmspeak ,a very rare talent that is used to charm most people into doing anything. She is also attracted to Jason Grace. She becomes the head counsellor of the Aphrodite cabin after she challenges Drew to a duel, and the latter backs down.







Leo Valdez ( aka Repair Boy , Admiral and Mr. Spock)

He is Jason's best friend and a son of Hephaestus ( Roman form- Vulcan) god of blacksmith and fire. He is very mischievous. He also likes to build things and is always busy with tools. He is a fire user and he is fireproof as well.  This is a very rare ability because very few children of Hephaestus are given this gift as it is very dangerous. Leo often uses humour to cheer up the spirits of his friends.

Gleeson Hedge ( aka Goat Man and Super Goat )

He's a satyr posing as a middle school P.E. coach who was assigned to protect Leo and Piper. He sees through the Mist when Jason shows up on a school bus. He can be overprotective and rational at times.

Summary  

In this book, Jason has no memory of his identity or how he came to be on a bus with a bunch of students going on a field trip to the Grand Canyon . Leo Valdez claims to be his best friend and Piper McLean , his girlfriend. At the Grand Canyon, one of the students reveals himself to be a Greek monster , and a horde of venti (storm spirits) attacks the three and their supervising teacher, Coach Gleeson Hedge , who reveals himself to be a satyr (half human and half goat) and fights the venti. Jason is able to defeat the venti's helpers but the remaining ventus captures the coach and flies away. Two strangers arrive in a flying chariot: Annabeth Chase (daughter of Athena) and Butch (son of Iris).

They take them to Camp Half Blood and are informed that the are half bloods, the children of ancient Greek gods . Jason seems to prefer the gods' Roman forms instead of Greek. Leo is immediately claimed by Hephaestus, a glowing red hammer appearing above his head as soon as he reaches Camp Half Blood. At the campfire that night, Piper is given the blessing of Aphrodite, revealing her to be a daughter of Aphrodite. Jason is revealed to be a son of Zeus after he summons his power to call lightning. He is also revealed to be the brother of Thalia, a main character from the Percy Jackson series. Jason remembers Thalia when he sees a picture of her in Zeus's cabin and learns that Hera/Juno has stolen his memories with the following prophecy:

                                  

Child of Lightning, beware the earth,

The giants' revenge the seven shall birth,

The forge and dove shall break the cage,

And death unleash, through Hera's rage.

         

                              

 Less than a day later, the three new demigods are sent on an urgent quest to rescue Hera, who has been kidnapped by a giant. The three set off on the back of a giant robotic dragon, Festus (which in Latin, means "happy") that Leo finds and repairs. From there , they travel to Quebec where they find Boreas (god of the north wind , Roman form is Aquilon). Piper discovers that she can speak French as she speaks with the god, his sons and his daughter Khione.








They travel back south, where Festus crashes mysteriously, leaving the three demigods to explore an abandoned tire factory . With Piper's ankle broken, the three decided to send Leo to find Festus and leave Jason to guard Piper .After a couple of hours Jason searches  for Leo. Meanwhile Leo has an encounter with Gaia which brings him a flashback of his mother's death, which he thought , was caused by him (poor Leo believed that his mother's death was related to his fire summoning ability and he held responsible for it). Piper gets tricked by the cyclopes and she is held hostage with Jason at his unconscious state . So Leo searches for them and has a fight with three cyclops ( Ma Gasket and her sons ) to rescue his friends . Then they set off again.

Seeking a place to sleep, Leo finds a sewer to set up camp in. The demigods then discover a weird shop, and find Coach Hedge frozen in place in a cage. The shop turns out to be owned by the evil sorceress Medea, who tries to kill them with poison. They escape after a fight, leaving Medea in her burning building.

After flying on Festus for hours , Leo thinks of a break . He lands Festus on the nearby black yard of a mansion, not knowing that the area is secured by laser rays . This results in the crash land of Festus which makes him beyond repair. They discover that the mansion is owned by King Midas. He manages to turn Coach, Leo and Piper to gold with his gold touch , leaving Jason alone. King Midas intends to kill Jason by allowing him to either be turned into gold or die at the hand of Lityerses’s sword (Midas's son).Jason chooses to fight Lit and knocks him down. King Midas accidentally turns Lit to gold when he tries to help Lit up. Jason summons a lightning bolt ,returning everyone, including Coach Hedge, to normal.

Later in the journey, the demigods are attacked by King Lycaon and his pack of Werewolves, when they are suddenly rescued by the Hunters of Artemis. Jason and Thalia are united. The two groups set off to seek help from Aeolus ( god of all the winds ).He is driven a bit crazy from managing all of the gods' requests for weather in different regions, and is proven to be quite dangerous after he sends a flock of angry harpies after the demigods and Coach Hedge. Luckily, they are rescued by Mellie, a helpful wind spirit whom Hedge falls in love with. They discover that Hera's kidnappers are Gaea's underlings, the Giants, and that she seeks to overthrow the Olympians.




They save Piper's father (Tristan McLean , a famous movie star) whom Enceladus has held ransom, and release Hera from her prison. They temporarily stall Gaea's plans, but the newly risen Porphyrion is able to escape. After the battle, they return to camp, where Leo starts building the Argo II, the flying ship for their next mission. Festus' mechanical, fully functioning head is featured as the masthead of the Argo II. Piper also overthrows Drew as senior counsellor and gains new-found self-confidence. After part of his memory returns, Jason realizes that he is from the Roman counterpart to Camp Half-Blood called Camp Jupiter. He remembers a girl named Reyna and that Hera switched his place with Percy Jackson, who is now at Camp Jupiter with no memory of his life at Camp Half-Blood.

•  “It'll be dangerous," Nyssa warned him. "Hardship, monsters, terrible suffering. Possibly none of you will come back alive."
  "Oh." Suddenly Leo didn't look so excited. Then he remembered everyone was watching. "I mean... Oh, cool! Suffering? I love suffering! Let's do this.”
• “Piper gripped his hand and followed him, “If I fall, you’re catching me.” “Uh, sure.” Jason hoped he wasn’t blushing.
  Leo stepped out next. “You’re catching me, too, Superman. But I ain’t holding your hand.”
• "That's what happens to snow in Texas. It. Freaking. Melts."-Leo
• "That is so cool," Jason said. "Why didn't you say anything?"
  Leo closed his hand and the fire went out. " Didn't want to look like a freak."
  
  "I have lightning and wind powers," Jason reminded him. "Piper can turn beautiful and charm people into giving her BMWs. You're no more a freak than we are. And, hey, maybe you can fly, too. Like jump off a building and yell, 'Flame On!' "
  
  Leo snorted. "If i did that, you would see a flaming kid falling to his death, and I would be yelling something a little stronger than 'Flame On!' "

• “Jason scratched his head. "You named him Festus? You know that in Latin, ‘festus’ means ‘happy’? You want us to ride off to save the world on Happy the Dragon?”  
•  “Can we just call them storm spirits?” Leo asked. “Venti makes them sound like evil espresso drinks.”  
•  “I'm the son of Jupiter, I'm a child of Rome, consul to demigods, praetor of the First Legion. I slew the Trojan sea monster, I toppled the black throne of Kronos, and destroyed Titan Krios with my own hand. And now I'm going to destroy you Porphyrion, and feed you to your own wolves."
  "Wow, dude," Leo muttered, "You been eating red meat?”  
• “Gaea?” Leo shook his head. “Isn’t that Mother Nature? She’s supposed to have, like, flowers in her hair and birds singing around her and dear and rabbits doing her laundry.”
  “Leo, that’s Snow White,” Piper said.”  
• “I'm Dylan. I'm so cool. I want to date myself, but I don't know how! You want to date me instead? You're so lucky!”
